Get those cows!

Happy Birthday Myrn!

For Myrna's birthday, Landon decided to surprise her and drive clear from Utah. It was sure a surprise! Dennis and Myrna came over to our house for dinner and we ordered out for Calzones...yummy. The plan was for Landon to come to the house when he got into town. The timing couldn't have been better - it was great! The first picture is of Landon just standing next to her as she was telling a story - she didn't look over at him not once! He finally had to say something for her to see him. She was surprised! It's been great having our Uncle Landon around. Happy Birthday Myrna!

Halloween

Here's my cowboy...It was a fun Halloween. We had a tough time (as I'm sure everyone does) getting this kid to take pictures. He's got the "cheese" thing down but can't (or won't) stand still long enough to take the picture! But, we were able to get a few.

We trick-or-treated at our neighbor's houses while Mimi and Pappy took charge of the house and greeted those that were trick-or-treating at our house. Thanks Mimi and Pappy! Then Nanna and Grumps came over and helped (or scared) with the rest! Yes, he answered our door this way and then headed down the street to scare those that were still out! We had a lot of fun! Chas and I were even able to sneak next door and hang out with our neighbors for a bit - first costume party we have been to in a while! Thanks Nana and Grumps!

This Weekend

We started this weekend going to Bayfield with the Moeller's to watch the girls play in Districts. We had such a good time with Nana and Grumps. We thoroughly enjoyed watching Shelby and Shanae. During a break, we ran to Durango to watch Jonathon play football - Brayden and Shyanne took full advantage of the play time. It was such a beautiful day.

Sunday, we decided to head to the cabin. My dad finished mowing the yard and then headed up to hang out with us (this will be important in a minute). We were having such a good time - my mom was helping me get started sewing Brayden's vest, Chas was fishing, and Pappy and Brayden were killing all the monsters and swinging.

Pretty soon, one of the neighbors came racing in on his 4-wheeler yelling to my dad that his property in La Jara was on fire. The next thing we know, my dad is off and we are trying to pack everything so we can too see what is going on. Turns out that the juniper bush in front of my parents house caught fire - we think because of the lawn mower (it's the only sense we can make). God bless random folks - a couple guys that just happened to be coming down the road saw the flames. They ran to the house and grabbed the garden house - at one point the flames were 6-8 ft above the house. Church was just getting out and literally our fire dept arrived in their church clothes - they did not change. They told us that a couple more minutes and no water from random do-gooders and our house would be gone...we are SO thankful. WOW - it is amazing how in an instant life can be so different. I find myself feeling truly thankful.

Sewer, I am not...

Kacey, I am blaming this somewhat on you...I read your blog and thought "if she can make Brooklyn a dress, surely I can make Brayden a vest." Well, let's just say that things should be much easier done than they appear. A simple vest....okay, so Halloween is coming and my son, who is still obsessed with cows and horses and everything inbetween, is going to be a cowboy. Grandma Violet bought him the wranglers, we have the boots and stick horse, Nana has the hat - all that is really left if a vest right? Right - how hard can it be? Well, it turns out that I LOVE my mom (however, I knew this all along). She saved the day for us! She (so patiently) helped me make most of it and today we were going to finish it. She showed up in the midst of my 2 year old exhibiting his 2 year-old-ness.....somehow, my kid survived, I survived, and a vest was finished. Skippy saved the day! Seriously, why can't the patterns talk ENGLISH - I had no idea what I was supposed to do, much less what the picture was showing me....oh well!

Lipstick anyone?

So, Brayden found my lipstick the other day...to his credit, he did try to put it on his lips. But, also made a real neat piece of artwork on my carpet...

So, it's been a while... :0)

Apparently I am not good at updating our page...what can I say, it's been a fun and busy summer! Sorry...but, I am also not sure exactly how to catch up! So, I think I will just throw in a bunch of pictures from our summer. Here goes and enjoy (we did)!

We recently bought a life jacket for Brayden - this kid loves it! He wants to wear it all the time. He insisted on wearing it to the bath one night... He tells his daddy, "Daddy, go find water for boat - let's go!"

Trip to the Sand Dunes

My aunt Tandy (Janice, a family friend also tagged along!) and cousin Robin came to visit us, so we decided to make a trip to the dunes. Here are some pictures. Brayden was real timid at first, but really loved the water after a while!

This is Brayden...'nough said?

So, after much hard work and hitting of the head...we are "bloggers" (uh hmmm....thanks for the help Mandy). Not quite sure when technology passed me by, but I am officially technologically challenged it appears!

This is Brayden - our little guy and center of our lives. Life has not been the same since he's arrived - nor would we want it to be. I never realized how much joy, love, challenge, etc little ones can bring to your lives. This one in particular is OVERFLOWING with orneriness....fun, but definitely ornery!

La Gunitas

We are at the La Gunitas cattle drive with the rest of the Moeller's. Such a cool time. I chose the background of our page very fittingly for our little guy, Brayden. If you've ever spent any time around my child, you will know that all he wants to do is "chase cows with 'Grumps'." He rarely is seen without some sort of animal in his hands! No kidding - he loves cows (actually obsessed would be the appropriate word), donkey's (with shrek and princess of course) have always been a favorite, and most recently the piggies. Horsies too - can't forget the "apple" horses. Grumps told him of Appaloosa horses and now he is proud to have one.

With the exception of poor little Megan being sick, we all had a great time. When she was feeling okay, she and Brayden leaned out the windows and were having great conversation! Brayden would say "cows Megan - look" and she would respond "neigh." It was such a cute thing to see!
